Because of the hard water qualities in this region, many people like to have a water softener installed to remove the minerals. This not only feels better, but can help to protect your plumbing pipes and fixtures last longer due to less corrosion, depending on which type you choose.

This Henderson plumber does not recommend water softeners that use salt for a number of reasons. Salt systems require you to haul big bags of salt to your home and replace it in order to maintain your system. Most people find this to be a big hassle.

Salt systems can actually cause corrosion in your water heater, pipes and fixtures. Think of what salt does to cars and roads and that’s exactly what it’s doing to your pipes! Salt systems are not environmentally friendly and introduce unwanted sodium in your water and in the waste that is taken out of your home.

Water softeners that use potassium are an improvement over salt, however we at Village Plumbing LLC only recommend the Nuvo H2O system that uses citrus to remove the hard minerals and condition your water to help keep your family healthy and your pipes or fixtures free from corrosion.
