Here are some tips for troubleshooting your Henderson hot water heater to track down the source of the problem and help your professional technician target the issue quickly.
Hot Water Heater
There are a number of different types of hot water heaters out there. The most common general categories are gas and electric heaters. Each has its own mechanics, electronics and inner workings, and each can carry its own problems. Here is an overview of some of the more common issues you might experience.

No Hot Water
The nightmare of most homeowners is when you got no hot water whatsoever. There are many possible reasons for this, one being you could have a rupture in your tank, in which case you will see water leaking out all over your basement floor. There may also be an issue with the heating element, which in a gas heater could be the pilot light or a bad thermocouple. It could also be a lack of gas to the heater.

In an electric heater, the issue could be the electric heating element, which could indicate a bad element, a short or any number of causes that are stopping electricity from getting to the device.

Empties Fast, Fills Slow
Are you running out of hot water very fast or just not getting enough water out of the tap? Does it take a very long time for your tank to recover after you use up the water in it? If so, you could have a clogged vent or flue. You might also have a leak in your heater somewhere. Check to make sure there is a substantial flow coming to and from the heater, and that there is not moisture surrounding the heater.

Too Hot or Not Hot Enough
If the water coming out is too hot or not hot enough, the problem is likely the thermostat. The thermostat on your water heater serves to set and maintain the temperature of the water coming out of the heater to your pipes. If it is not set right or is not working properly, you will have problems controlling the temperature of your water. Check to make sure it is set to the temperature you desire. If it is and you still experience problems, you might have a bad thermostat.
